The world of Live Service video games continues to represent a complex challenge for large companies, with Sony that is facing this reality again through Marathon, the sci-fi shooter developed by Bungie. After the sensational bankruptcy of Concord – withdrawn from the market after just two weeks and with estimated sales around 25,000 copies – the Japanese company cannot afford another failure that could cost hundreds of millions of dollars. The pressure is therefore maximum for the development team, which is now preparing for a new crucial phase of technical tests.
From 22 to 28 October, Bungie will open the doors of Marathon to a selected group of players in North America and Europe, through an exclusive technical test on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Steam. Access will be limited and bound by a rigorous non -disclosure agreement, preventing participants from sharing any content of the gaming experience. Those interested can apply through the official page by October 16, while Steam users will have until 26 October.
