Japanese censorship hit this title with zombies

The Japanese video game classification system is again discussing after Dying Light: The Beast (here our review) has become the last title to undergo heavy changes to obtain the approval of the candle (Computer Entertainment Rating Organization). The official Japanese website of the game had to clearly specify that the Japanese version substantially differs from the one distributed in the rest of the world, despite having however received the Z classification, reserved for the age of 18. The controversy is part of a wider debate on the consistency of the tree decisions and on the double standards applied to the different titles.
The changes made to the Japanese version of Dying Light: The Beast have been extensive and concerned different aspects of gameplay and graphic representation. The candle requested the removal of the internal organs visible in the zombie models and in the maps of the map, as well as substantial changes to the models of some female zombies. The facial and torso dismemberment has also been completely eliminated, together with any representation of nudity present in the original game.
A particularly unusual aspect of this censorship concerns the fact that the restrictions also apply to the Steam version for PC, despite the computer games are usually not subject to the tree assessments. This decision represents a significant exception to the usual practices of the Japanese classification body.
The case of Dying Light is not isolated and is part of a series of disputes that involved internationally renowned developers. SUDA51 and Shinji Mikami expressed strong criticisms against the candle after Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered suffered the same fate, forcing the development team to create two distinct versions of the game.
