The gaming industry found itself faced with an unexpected conundrum when NCSoft presented Horizon Steel Frontiers, the new MMO set in the universe created by Guerrilla Games.
The title, which promises to expand adventures in the land of machines through a massive multiplayer experience, will be available exclusively for PC and mobile devices. A choice that has left millions of fans perplexed, considering that the Horizon saga has sold over 30 million copies thanks to its success on Sony consoles.
The issue took on even more curious contours when Lee Song, executive producer of the project, made statements to the Japanese magazine 4Gamer.
The NCSoft executive confirmed that the absence of the PlayStation 5 among the supported platforms was the most frequent comment received after the official announcement. A predictable reaction, given that we are talking about one of the flagship intellectual properties of the Sony stable.
According to what emerged from Song’s words, the decision to exclude PlayStation consoles would not have been taken by the Korean development studio.
