Hideo Kojima appeared briefly and surprisingly in the trailer for Nicolas Winding Refn’s new TV series, Too Old To Die Young .
The series will be aired on Amazon Prime Video on June 14 and will see the extraordinary participation of Metal Gear’s father.
You can see it in action at minute 1:54: it is the man who wields a big sword and is about to cut the finger of another during what is presumed to be an interrogation of some kind.
Kojima and Refn are longtime friends, with the director’s first big fan for his work on Drive, with Ryan Gosling, and the second one who visited him in Tokyo to find out how Death Stranding is coming.
Furthermore, it was Refn himself who introduced Mads Mikkelsen to Hideo Kojima, suggesting that it would be perfect for a role in Death Stranding.
Recently, the director also made another foray into the gaming world, shooting a television commercial for The Division 2.
At this point, we don’t know if Kojima will be a permanent presence in the cast or whether it will be a simple cameo, given that the game director and designer is engaged in his offices in Japan on the exclusive PS4.
