These are really terrible hours for Rockstar Games, given a leak of GTA 6 absolutely sensational and that would seem by now have been confirmed as real, although official comments are still missing.
In fact, over 90 game videos and images from an internal build of the game have emerged online, which would show the heir of Grand Theft Auto V in action ( find the next-gen edition on discount on Amazon ).
Some videos date back to 2021, leaked directly from the Slack server used by the developers to share the status of the work with other staff members.
Now, after the hacker admits to having the source code of GTA V and GTA 6 and to be ready to sell it to the same developers for a ransom, the partial identity of the cybercriminal would emerge.
The well-known admin of Breached (a hacking forum), pompompurin, has announced that the culprit of very serious leak against Rockstar is a sixteen year old who in the past has already been arrested for similar crimes (via The Gamer ).
The underage hacker was accused of being the leader of the team of cybercriminals known as Lapsus $ after being doxed by some of his former colleagues.
According to pompompurin, the hacker – who goes by the name White – sent evidence in a Telegram chat that he was behind the leaks on GTA 6 . The whole thing would then be removed as soon as the leak went viral.
White also allegedly hacked Microsoft through his Lapsus $ team, an issue that the Redmond company addressed in a blog post earlier this year. The hacker also allegedly hacked Uber earlier this week, confirming teapottuberhacker’s comments on GTAForums .
He claims that he not only leaked GTA 6 by logging into Rockstar Games’ Slack server, but that he also managed to breach Uber’s security. It is therefore assumed that teapottuberhacker is therefore White himself .
The leaker, whether White or someone else, also said he is trying to negotiate a deal, asking Rockstar and Take-Two to close the Telegram deals. According to teapotuberhacker, the GTA V source code is also for sale, which could prove to be incredibly harmful .
The hackers are also alleged to have breached Samsung and Nvidia, although Rockstar hasn’t officially commented on the news yet , nor publicly hinted at who was behind the attack.
