God of War and Final Fantasy VII Remake have been updated for PS5

Well-known modder Lance McDonald has been rummaging through the files of some PS4 games and confirmed that they have been updated for PS5 .

We had already reported mysterious updates of some PlayStation 4 games, which arrived without detailed changelogs in the last few weeks, suggesting that it could have been updates aimed at the new Sony console.

McDonald has confirmed that God of War 3 Remastered, God of War and Final Fantasy VII Remake have been updated «with some kind of PS5 support added».

“However, there is no way to know how much ‘support’ this could actually be until we get our hands on it.”

The less tempting hypothesis is that these games needed updates simply to unlock PlayStation 5 backward compatibility support.

The most tempting, however, concerns graphic improvements and the Game Boost mode, which on Ghost of Tsushima will double the frame rate.

For now, Sucker Punch’s action adventure is the only confirmed game to support it , but who knows the list isn’t going to grow with at least some Sony exclusives.

God of War not surprisingly includes a mode that unlocks the frame rate, and titles that adopt this type of solution could easily switch to the locked 60fps.

If you want to get ready to book PS5 for when it returns, keep an eye on the dedicated page on Amazon.
