Valve has announced Steam Next Fest , a new summer event that will allow you to play many free demos of upcoming PC games.
The event replaces the Steam Game Festival which was “aired” a couple of times a year recently, with an opening in May 2020.
Steam Next Fest will be held June 16-22 to be precise, and should predictably work very similarly.
«We have renamed the Steam Games Festival event to communicate the idea behind it more directly and clearly», reads dedicated page on Steam.
«Steam’s Next Fest is a multi-day celebration of upcoming games.
Explore and play hundreds of game demos, watch live broadcasts from developers and chat with teams about their developing games, coming soon on Steam ».
For the moment, the list of products involved remains locked up but here you can set a handy reminder to not miss the next news.
The latest Steam Game Festival took place last February , and included some of the moments featured in the celebratory trailer.
This time the initiative will fall into the window of the iconic E3, for which official plans have not yet been shared this year and the risk of cancellation, for the second year in a row, is just around the corner.
In any case, no announcements coming directly from Valve would seem planned, although the software house founded by Gabe Newell still has a lot to tell – as in the case of this anecdote from Portal .
The studio behind Steam is busy producing new games anyway, so sooner or later some reveal will come.
If you want to enjoy Half-Life Alyx , we recommend a VR headset like Oculus Rift S.
