Ex-PlayStation boss on mass layoffs: “Everything will be fine”

The theme of video games in 2024 will certainly be that of layoffs and, in general, the sustainability of the market and the industry, which Shawn Layden (ex-head of PlayStation) has spoken about again, trying to bring a bit of positivity.\ r\nLayden was one of the first to launch arguments on the topic of the video game industry, on how much the production system needs to be reviewed and, in general, AAA video games are no longer sustainable.\r\nAlready in 2020, Shawn Layden he said that video games had to last less to be more profitable, and that the production model needed to be reviewed. Here is a passage from his speech at the time:\r\n\r\n«It is difficult for any adventure game to aspire to the goal of 50/60 hours of gameplay, because it will be really expensive to reach. It ends up closing the door on some creators and their stories because they don’t meet certain requirements.
