According to a report by Cinelinx, Disney would have contacted Activision and Ubisoft to investigate their interest in taking over the license for making Star Wars-based video games.
The source cites dissatisfaction on the part of Mickey Mouse and LucasFilm’s house not so much because of the microtransactions that broke out with Battlefront II (friction denied by CEO Andrew Wilson in this regard), but because of the low frequency of outputs guaranteed by Electronic Arts.
The partnership between the two parties is in fact it was signed in 2013 and since then, we are in 2018, only the two Star Wars Battlefront have actually been published.
Something very disappointing in the vision of the company managed by the CEO Bob Iger, who had chosen the editor of FIFA precisely in virt & ugrave; of the large number of internal software available to it.
The publisher is working on a Star Wars at Respawn Entertainment (the third-person action of the director of God of War III, coming in 2020) and the one that will be born & agrave; from the ashes of the story-driven title of Visceral Games, now in the hands of EA Vancouver.
An extremely turbulent process and not up to the very limited deadline that Disney would like to establish, as it is also supporting the cinema with a release per year.
It would be very difficult to get rid of the contract that holds it at Electronic Arts for ten years (from 2013, therefore, the natural expiry would be set at 2023), but not impossible considering the availability & agrave; of the American entertainment giant.
For now, it is clearly a rumor and as such we invite you to evaluate it with the proverbial springs.
