Despite the success, the authors of Solium Infernum and Armello close their doors

We often talk about mass layoffs, for a couple of years now, and if the case of League of Geeks is different in form it is different in substance: the development team will no longer exist.\r\nAuthors of Armello and the excellent Solium Infernum, a highly appreciated title which we also told you about in our review, League of Geeks announced a few hours ago its intention to stop all operations for an indefinite period.\r\nIn a note on the official website, the co- founder and director of the studio communicate the news:\r\n\r\n«With over 13 years behind us as a completely independent studio and the economic situation of games what it is now, we have made the decision to put LoG into hibernation for the near future and take some time off. The vast majority of our team has moved on to exciting new activities and those who remain will take a well-deserved break in the coming months.»\r\n\r\nAn undoubtedly singular decision, but one that is justified by the same reasons that we have read in the last times regarding layoffs, such as the recent ones of Sumo Group and the authors of Dead by Daylight, just to name the latest.\r\n«We are not sure when (or if) we will resurrect this great beast, but we are incredibly proud of everything what we have achieved”, continues League of Geeks, before updating the situation regarding its games.\r\nThe games will remain online and will be supported during the period before hibernation, generally.\r\nWhile remaining in the top 10 and top 20 games of 2024 by, respectively, Open Critic and Metacritic, Solium Infernum will no longer be expanded because “sales revenues cannot finance further active development or DLC”. There will, therefore, only be a small support regarding fixes and minor updates.\r\nJumplight Odyssey, a project in development, has not found feasible and timely investments that can restore the development of the title. «We would love nothing more than to see this project finished, but unfortunately development will remain on pause», specifies League of Geeks.\r\nAs for Armello, the first title from the studio which has also expanded into other products (you can find them on Amazon ) will continue to travel as in recent years, rotating seasonal content.\r\nThe League of Geeks closing of the letter is, unfortunately, something we have read all too often:\r\n\r\n«Making video games has been difficult, terribly difficult in recent years, but the smart and lovely people we have dealt with, both inside and outside LoG, have made this crazy business worth every single day.»\r \n\r\nIt is truly a complex moment for video games, which someone is trying to remember and support in their own way.
