Control will have secondary missions but it will not be open world

During a presentation at the PlayStation E3 2018 post-conference, Remedy showed Control’s gameplay and explained in detail how the first multi-platform era of the Finnish studio will work.

The protagonist Jesse has a service weapon that can transform into different shapes, like a gun and a rifle (the two transformations seen in the E3 demo). Jesse also has supernatural abilities, such as telekinesis.

“He can update and modify both his weapons and his abilities,” said Anna Megill of Remedy, adding that the environments are destructible and the scattered objects can be used in combat.

Thomas Puha added some more details about the structure of the game, revealing that “surely it’s not open world, it’s more an open-ended game (…) You have your own story missions, but it also has side quests to complete (…) and not all the characters you meet will be hostile “.
