The future of video games is digital delivery, undoubtedly, and looking at the sales data of consoles it is likely that this type of hardware will soon find its end, because sales are collapsing.\r\nAs reported by Games Industry, in fact, the Video game consoles are suffering greatly in 2024.\r\nHardware sales down 39% from April to 71,000 units sold. All three major platforms continue to see declines, with overall console sales down nearly 30% year-to-date. Xbox Series console sales are down just under 25% so far, with sales of PS5s were down just over 25% and Switch sales were down 38%. According to analysts, it is a situation that will probably continue until we see new hardware, or video games that will contribute to increasing sales with their importance.\r\nApart from Nintendo, which is continuing a positive trend but with numbers that are slightly decreasing, actually even the PS5 had already shown itself to be in decline although with a still very good sales volume. As well as Xbox, which is struggling even more due to its generally not too positive period (to put it mildly).\r\nConsequently, reports Games Industry, accessories sales are also down 28% compared to March but up 7% compared to April last year.\r\nThe video game market is suffering in general, and this is certainly nothing new. In February we saw declining numbers for software sales, as in March, and in both cases there were phenomena like Helldivers 2 (you can find it on Amazon) to lift the situation.\r\nWe’ll see if the rest of the 2024 will be able to give a boost to sales, even if the entire videogame supply chain is suffering right down to retail stores.
