Season 4 of the Castlevania series by Netflix has put an end to the show inspired by the Konami saga.
During today’s Geeked Week livestream, the creators of the series dedicated to the most famous vampire slayers of all time have confirmed that a new spin-off is in the works and will showcase a new protagonist.
Executive producer Kevin Kolde, director Sam Deats and assistant director Adam Deats have in fact confirmed that Richter Belmont will inherit the whip in the new series currently in pre-production, but which will be unrelated in fact from the fourth season.
But that’s not all: again according to the words of the creators, the first season of the spin-off will be set in 1792, in France, in the middle of the French Revolution .
Alongside Richter we will find the co-star Maria Renard , another character well known to fans of the videogame series.
Richter is one of the most common Belmont in the Castlevania video game saga: after debuting in 1993 in Castlevania: Rondo of Blood (known to us as Castlevania: Dracula X ), he is a young but powerful descendant of Simon Belmont and a master-killer of vampires.
During the events of Rondo of Blood (set in 1792) he saves Maria Renard, a 12-year-old orphan who is herself an enchantress and vampire hunter and a distant relative of the Belmont clan.
In all likelihood, therefore, the new series could be inspired by the game of the same name, given that the previous four seasons were taken from Castlevania III .
Richter also appeared briefly in the direct sequel to Rondo, the masterpiece Castlevania: Symphony of the Night , as well as as an “echo” character playable in Super Smash Bros . Ultimate.
