The VGTech YouTube channel has carried out a technical analysis of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare alpha , available over the weekend with a 2v2 mode on five different maps.
According to this analysis, the game uses a dynamic resolution that goes up and down depending on the situation to keep the frame rate unchanged: the minimum is 960 × 1080, while the peak is 1920 × 1080.
As it happens more and more often, through a temporal reconstruction the pixel count is always 1920x1080p even when the native resolution is below these figures.
PS4 Pro exploits the same trick, however, oscillating between 1152 × 1800 and 1920 × 2160 natives. With temporal reconstruction, the standard is set at 1920 × 2160, with the console performing a downsample (super-sampling) on 1080p screens with benefits on aliasing yield.
You can find the full analysis in the video below, while the upcoming appointments with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare are set for September for the beta and October 25 for the complete launch.
