The Borderlands film is one of the next videogame projects to hit the big screen, but with just weeks left to finish filming director Eli Roth leave the place.
A production that has been very complex and troubled from the beginning, when the transposition of the beloved series (with a recent episode that you can buy on Amazon) was announced.
In fact, the film inspired by Borderlands has been known for at least three years, and in all this time we haven’t seen anything about it yet.
At least we know that the film is moving forward, that we are in the final stages and indeed it shouldn’t be long before the feature film arrives.
But the Borderlands film changed director very shortly after shooting, as reported by Deadline.
Eli Roth has handed over the reins of two weeks of filming to his friend Tim Miller, director of the film Deadpool, because he is busy filming Thanksgiving, the horror film based on a fake trailer that Roth made for the Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez film Grindhouse.
It is therefore not a dismissal but, above all, Tim Miller certainly has the necessary style to complete the additional shots of the Borderlands without straying too far from the tone and aesthetics of the video game.
It is therefore a change that is theoretically not too destructive for the production, which has already taken home the fundamental shots and will now only have to complete a few additional shots.
Now we can’t wait to find out more see a first trailer, maybe. Also because the cast is truly exceptional between Cate Blanchett who will play Lilith and Jamie Lee Curtis, just to name a few.
In a period in which film productions related to video games are definitely not lacking. Recently, for example, we saw the first trailer for the Gran Turismo movie.
