Black Friday Playstation, super discounts coming to PS5

The European console market is preparing to experience a particularly aggressive Black Friday on the PlayStation front. According to what has emerged from usually reliable sources, Sony Interactive Entertainment is preparing to cut the prices of all PlayStation 5 variants with discounts that could reach 100 euros.
A commercial move that takes on even more significant contours considering the recent history of price increases that has characterized Sony’s flagship console in recent years, with progressive increases that have taken some models well beyond the original launch price of 2020.
The information comes from billbil-kun, a Dealabs contributor with a particularly accurate track record of leaks in anticipating PlayStation’s hardware and software moves.
According to his revelations, from November 21st European players will be able to purchase the PS5 Standard Edition for 449 euros instead of the current 549 euros, while the Digital Edition would drop to 349 euros from the previous 499 euros. The most surprising data, however, concerns the PS5 Pro, which would see its price drop from 799 to 699 euros.
Particularly interesting is the inclusion in the promotional initiative of the Fortnite Flowering Chaos bundle, recently announced by Sony. This special edition, available in both Standard and Digital versions, will maintain the same prices as the basic consoles but will also benefit from the 100 euro discount during Black Friday.
The package includes exclusive content for Epic Games’ battle royale: 1,000 V-Bucks, the Florin skin complete with LEGO version, as well as a series of additional cosmetics including backpack, pickaxe, custom wrap, guitar, microphone and shoes.

The most paradoxical aspect of this commercial operation concerns the Digital Edition. Launched in Europe at 399 euros in November 2020, the fully digital console underwent a first increase to 449 euros in 2022, followed by a further increase to 499 euros during 2024.
With the discount expected for Black Friday, the price would therefore drop to 349 euros, positioning it below the initial cost with which Sony introduced the model on the market four years ago. A situation that highlights how complex the management of console prices has been in the European region.
Sony’s strategy for this Black Friday appears clearly oriented towards maximizing the penetration of the PS5 installed base in view of the Christmas season, taking advantage of a lineup of recent exclusives such as Ghost of Yōtei.
The temporary reduction in prices could also help mitigate the criticism received for the repeated tariff increases, particularly felt by the European community which has seen the cost of entry into the PlayStation ecosystem progressively rise over the course of a few years.
We now have to wait for official confirmation from Sony Interactive Entertainment, which typically announces its promotional initiatives for Black Friday a few days in advance of the actual start of the discounts.
