Avowed could be true next-gen, with Unreal Engine 5

In 2020 Obsidian Entertainment announced its big project, an ambitious and complex RPG: Avowed .

We know practically nothing about the game, although it has been known to exist for a couple of years now.

Aside from a teaser trailer, the talented software house’s project from Xbox Game Studios is shrouded in a cloud of mystery, and many are dying to find out more.

According to some rumors, however, Avowed should be even bigger than Skyrim (which you can buy on Amazon at a discounted price), with a map full of cities and points of interest.

Some may also hope to get some news about the game during the upcoming Xbox and Bethesda Showcase which takes place in June, but in the meantime what we know is a clue to the graphics engine that it will use.

As noted by IdleSloth84 with a Twitter post, Obsidian programmer Paul Miller updated his LinkedIn page giving more details of his role in the studio (via TheGamer).

In his profile we therefore find the phrase: “ responsible for improving the experience of Unreal Editor 4/5 via plugin “.

Although UE4 is also mentioned, the wording clearly refers to the Unreal Engine 5 engine, which is probably the one used with their next game Avowed .

But that’s not the only clue that leads us to this conclusion, as another Obsidian employee, Aaron Dubois , also updated his page with the phrase « LFX boss artist on Avowed. I work with Niagara fx on Unreal Engine 5 », as reported by Pure Box.

We also remind you that an Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase will take place in about a month, an occasion in which we could hope to learn more about Avowed , as well as about other projects of the Skyrim. Among other things, the show seems to have to last a very long time, all the time to present news of a certain weight.
