At the Game Developers Conference, Atari took another step in presenting its new hardware platform, which now has a name: Atari VCS.

VCS stands for Video Computer System, previously known with the code name “Ataribox”. These will come with a retro joystick (and a more modern controller) and according to the press release the pre-order date will be announced in April 2018.

The platform will offer many titles of the past but not only, as Atari aims to make it a “completely new device, connected and designed for today’s living room”.

The manufacturer intends to “change the way you interact with your TV, just like the original Atari 2600 Video Computer System did over 40 years ago”.
