Amazing numbers for Battlefield 6, but there’s an annoying bug

The launch of Battlefield 6 (our review here) recorded extraordinary numbers, with almost 750,000 concurrent players on Steam in the first weekend, confirming itself as one of the most impressive takeoffs in the history of the platform. However, behind this commercial success lies a technical problem that is making even veterans of the series lose patience. This isn’t a lack of player skill, but a bullet dispersion bug that is affecting the accuracy of automatic weapons in sustained combat situations.
The mechanics designed by the developers provides that during continuous fire with automatic weapons, bullets gradually begin to deviate from the aiming point. This system, which combines recoil with intentional random deviations, serves to prevent players from maintaining near-perfect accuracy while emptying entire magazines without interruption. The goal is to encourage burst fire, a more realistic approach and consistent with the spirit of the Battlefield series.

The malfunction emerges just when players adopt the recommended tactic. Even if you interrupt fire to allow the weapon’s dispersion to reset, the system does not always respond correctly. Videos shared by the community clearly show how the dispersion cone accumulated at the end of a burst can persist even after stopping shooting and re-firing, generating greater inaccuracy than expected by the developers.
Many players initially believed it was the same flaw that emerged during the beta phase of the game, but was never fully resolved. The reality is more complex than it seems. Florian Le Bihan, lead game designer for Battlefield 6, clarified the situation via social media, explaining that the beta issue had indeed been fixed, but that two other distinct bugs have emerged that affect dispersion and bloom in an unexpected way.
The development team is actively working on resolving these anomalies, and in parallel is evaluating a general balance of parameters related to dispersion. This approach suggests that developers won’t just fix the bug, but may also overhaul the entire system to ensure a more consistent gaming experience.
