PlayStation seems to be preparing to replenish the ranks of its exclusive studios because, according to a recent well-informed insider, the Japanese company would have acquired Arrowhead, the authors of Helldivers 2.\r\nBeing already an exclusive PlayStation 5 console (it found on Amazon), this deal would actually be very simple to predict even seeing the success that the shooter has generated.\r\nArrowhead is not in fact a studio that owns PlayStation, but is among the many studios that have been tasked with creating the series of the live service games that Sony has recently decimated in the course of layoffs.\r\nThe information of this possible acquisition came from Haothors, a recent insider who recently predicted posts on the PlayStation blog, as well as the probable announcement of Ghost of Tsushima on PC (yet to be confirmed).\r\n\r\nSpeaking of the success of Helldivers 2 and the upcoming content that will be added to the shooter, including the mechs that have been officially confirmed by Arrowhead today, Haothors declared that according to his information the development team «has already been purchased by PlayStation» and the announcement of this maneuver «will happen soon».\r\nEverything is obviously to be confirmed, so we just have to wait for official communications from part of PlayStation and/or Arrowhead in this sense.\r\nAs mentioned, with the success of Helldivers 2 a possible acquisition would give PlayStation a studio that has proven to make successful persistent games.\r\nOf course you can’t help but be skeptical thinking about the recent wave of layoffs that the Japanese company has initiated, cutting the workforce even in unthinkable studios such as Naughty Dog.\r\nHowever, PlayStation has openly declared that it wants to change its strategy with respect to the way it intends video games, their development and their publication, and Arrowhead with Helldivers 2 seems to be the ideal profile that coincides with Hermen Hulst’s statements.\r\nWith this possible maneuver, PlayStation could have a new studio capable of making persistent worlds which is what it hoped to have with Bungie, given that there is not an excellent relationship between the two companies even after the acquisition.
After the layoffs, PlayStation would have already made a new acquisition
