Microsoft continues to enrich the Xbox Game Pass catalog and today welcomes a new title perfect for the autumn season: The Casting of Frank Stone, the narrative horror developed by Supermassive Games and published by Behavior Interactive, is available from today for all subscribers to the service on Xbox Series
Set in the same universe as Dead by Daylight, the game tells the story of a group of young filmmakers who decide to shoot a horror film in the town of Cedar Hills, the scene of the brutal acts of serial killer Frank Stone. What begins as a creative project soon turns into a nightmare, when the line between fiction and reality begins to dissolve. The title takes up the interactive formula that made Supermassive famous, building a branching narrative in which every decision influences the development of the plot and the fate of the protagonists. According to the developers, there are over 180 narrative branches and 16 possible endings, for an experience that invites replayability and the discovery of new perspectives with every choice.
Among its strengths stand out the possibility of going back to key moments to explore narrative alternatives and the integration with Twitch, which allows viewers of a live broadcast to vote on the characters’ decisions in real time, making the experience even more shared. The title also supports a local cooperative mode that allows multiple players to take turns controlling the protagonists, an ideal solution for experiencing the tension of the adventure together.
The arrival of The Casting of Frank Stone on Game Pass is part of the first wave of games for October 2025, which also includes Ball x Pit, The Grinch: Christmas Adventures and Pax Dei. It is a strategic move by Microsoft, which aims to strengthen the perceived value of the service after the recent price revisions, while offering a title that adapts perfectly to the Halloween atmosphere.
At the time of its original launch, which took place in September 2024, The Casting of Frank Stone had been positively received by the public for its visual quality and its ability to evoke authentic cinematic horror, albeit with some reservations about the pace and depth of the writing compared to other works from the studio, such as Until Dawn or The Quarry. The arrival on Game Pass now offers the possibility of rediscovering it at no additional cost, representing an ideal opportunity for fans of interactive stories and for those looking for a quality narrative thrill.
