PlayStation Store has just welcomed a free demo for Freedom Wars Remastered, a remastered version of the historic action RPG originally released on PS Vita in 2014.
It is a news that surprised many, especially for the fact that Sony granted Bandai Namco Entertainment the possibility of relaunching the title (still sightly sightly on Amazon) on other platforms.
For fans of the first hour and for those who were lost at the time, this is the perfect opportunity to discover (or rediscover) a small jewel of the old Sony laptop, this time with all the PS5 power.
The demo, available only on PS5 (although the complete game is cross-green with PS4), allows you to play the start of the adventure up to level 2.
No multiplayer online in this trial version, and the bailouts cannot be transferred to the full game.
But a few minutes are enough to savor the new graphic design, with high resolution textures, 4K support and a completely revised crafting system. There is also the possibility to regulate the level of difficulty, a novelty welcome especially for those looking for a personalized challenge.
Originally developed by Dimps, Freedom Wars was positively welcomed for its dystopian setting, the frenetic gameplay and the strong accent on the cooperative. Over time it has become a cult of PS Vita users, so much so that it pushed a community fond of asking for a return for years.
Personally, I find it almost moving to see Freedom Wars return to the limelight. It is one of those games that deserved a second chance on a more visible platform (and if you want to know what we think, at this address you will find our review).
And if this Remastered were to achieve the success it deserves, maybe Sony will begin to consider its life catalog more carefully. For now, I enjoy this demo with a pinch of nostalgia and a lot of hope for the future.
