Control focuses on explorability rather than replayability

Talking to the PlayStation Blog, game director Mikael Kasurinen revealed that Remedy has focused on explorability rather than on replay in Control .

“You can have the complete Control experience without exploring the Oldest House”, explained Kasurinen, adding that this “is full of secrets and lore that open up to the history of the place and perhaps give some clues about the phenomena you will see “.

“Instead of making the game ‘replayable’, for us it was more a matter of creating a world that you can continually explore”, is the point of view of the Finnish software house, and in hindsight an element of considerable detachment from his previous work.

Sometimes going back to an old location can be fun since you can access areas where you couldn’t enter before because you now have a new access level or ability “, he added still the Scandinavian, betraying how much the study points to the metroidvania component of the title.

Control is coming out on August 27th for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. You can learn more by taking a look at our latest test.
