The Tokyo Game Show 2025 will see a strong presence of Square Enix, ready to combine nostalgia and innovation with a lineup that ranges from remakes to HD-2D to the remaster of great classics, up to new intellectual properties.
The company aims to directly involve the community with playable demos, special events and presentations that will put the historic franchise in the center together with unpublished projects.
The protagonists stand out The Adventures of Elliot: The Millennium Tales and Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, both available in playable version. The latter represents a return to the origins of the saga conceived by Yuji Horii, with the graphic rendering in HD-2D which has already conquered fans in other Square Enix projects.
Lovers of shift strategic will instead find space with Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles (which we tried), remaster for new generation consoles. The title will not be limited to the presence in demo, but will be at the center of a special event on September 28, an opportunity in which new technical details and additional content will probably be revealed.
There will be Final Fantasy VII Remake intergrade, ready to arrive on Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch 2 by the end of the year. The possibility of trying it at the fair will allow the owners of these platforms to touch a title that has already received enormous success elsewhere, confirming the increasingly evident multiplatform strategy in the choices of the Japanese company.
September 27 will be the richest day: Octopath Traveler 0 will be the protagonist of a Broadcast special with new gameplay, while Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will receive an event dedicated shortly before the official launch set for October 30.
The concentration of announcements in a single day underlines the will to maximize the media impact, especially in view of the exit of expected titles on all the main platforms: Xbox Series X/S, PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2. A lineup that reiterates the double soul of Square Enix, capable of rediscovering the past without giving up building the future.
