What will PS6 have? A patent anticipates it

Sony already seems to think about the next generation of console with particular attention to one of the most common problems for gamers: the accumulation of dust. A new patent, entitled “Electronic Device”, describes a ventilation system capable of limiting the entry of particles without compromising the air flow necessary for cooling the components.
The project includes a dust wall placed between the ventilation area and the admission of the air. This barrier, while letting the air pass, would prevent dust from reaching delicate components such as the heat dissipator and the power supply, parts that over time can lose efficiency if obstructed.
The operation is based on two directions of passage of the air: the first follows the normal flow towards the inside of the console, the second, perpendicular, is interrupted by the dust wall. In this way, the particles remain trapped outside, while the air continues to cool optimally the components.
The patent underlines that the dust can penetrate even when the console is off, passing through the air intakes and depositing on the internal components. The new system would therefore have the advantage of offering constant protection, reducing the need for frequent internal cleaning and preventing drops in performance due to overheating.
The images in the document show a device similar to PlayStation 5, but it is unlikely that this solution is introduced on the current generation. More realistic to think that the system is intended for the future PlayStation 6, which could thus offer not only a technical improvement, but also greater longevity of hardware.
If implemented, this technology could translate into a simpler maintenance and into stable performance over time, two aspects highly appreciated by those who use the console intensely. In addition to guaranteeing a fluid game experience, a dust system would reduce the risk of damage to components and malfunctions due to heat.
As with all patents, there is no certainty that the idea actually arrives on the market. However, the filing of such a detailed project shows that dust management is a central theme for Sony in the design of the next generations of PlayStation.
If confirmed, the system could represent one of the most useful innovations of the future PS6, combining high -level performance with effective protection against one of the silent hardware enemies.
