Contrary to what some rumors had hinted in recent months, Capcom is currently not working on a remake of the first Resident Evil.
This was revealed by the Insider Dusk Golem, a well -known and often reliable source in the panorama linked to Capcom’s horror saga (which you find on Amazon), which provided new information in response to a question of a fan on X.
According to Dusk Golem, the renovation of the progenitor of the series is not in development at the moment, nor is part of the company’s short -term plans.
The next remake operations seem to be concentrated on two titles for some time requested by the community: Resident Evil Zero and Resident Evil Code: Veronica, which has been talked about for months.
The Insider clarified that a “re-Remake” of the first game will probably arrive, but it is not scheduled for the next few years.
«As far as I know, and as far as I heard the last time, at the moment not. The next incoming remakes should be Resident Evil Zero and Code Veronica. I think a new Remake of Re1 will arrive sooner or later, but at the moment it is not in development, “wrote the Insider.
This declaration directly denies a previous 2024 report that claimed that Capcom was planning a remake of the first Resident Evil on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the saga, scheduled for March 2026.
It is worth remembering that the game has already received a complete remake in 2002 on Gamecube, then republished in high definition on PS3, PS4 and other platforms – a version still considered one of the best remake examples of an old classic.
In the meantime, Capcom has not yet officially announced the remakes of zero and queues: Veronica, but according to Dusk Golem, these titles are among the most requested by fans, as evidenced also by an official survey released by the same company years ago.
Finally, as regards the future of the series, Capcom has already announced Resident Evil Requiem, the next main chapter, to be released on February 27, 2026 on PS5, PC and Xbox Series X | s.
