During the Steam Next Fest he popped up Dead As Disco, a new action title developed by Brain Jar Games who attracted attention to his original formula.
Add the combat system to the Batman: Arkham (series you find on Amazon) with the mechanics of a Rhythm Game.
The game, which features Charlie Disco – a resurrected hero ready to challenge rivals in a sort of infernal talent show – offers time clashes in which every attack, dodged and counter -moves synchronized with the Bpm of the song in the background.
Unlike many other action, affecting “out of time” does not only penalize efficiency: it literally breaks the rhythm of the action. The result is a gameplay that blends fluidity, spectacularity and precision, offering a unique experience.

The demo currently available here includes a first taste of the history mode set in the Hemlock area, where the player faces enemies on subway tracks and within the wagons themselves, between environmental traps and armored enemies.
The soundtrack – with songs like a maniac cover – is an integral part of the experience, and model the flow of every combat.
Particularly interesting is the Infinite Disco mode, an endless challenge set in a psychedelic arena in which to face waves of enemies to the rhythm of a vast musical catalog.
And for those who want to customize the experience, it is possible to load their favorite songs and fight following their melodies, thanks to the possibility of setting the BPM manually.
Dead As Disco is expected on PC, even if a release date has not been communicated at the moment.
In short, the idea of ​​synchronizing a Batman combat system: Arkham with musical mechanics is not only original, but also surprisingly functional.
If the team knows how to maintain this level of consistency, style and rhythm even in the final version, Dead as Disco could become one of the most interesting indie revelations of the year.
