One of the certainly appreciated features of the announcement of Nintendo Switch 2 is the fact that it is backwards compatible with the previous console, which means that you can play its digital games and cartridge games also on the next Nintendo console.\r\nAbout this as to why this choice was made, a spokesperson for the big N released an official statement to the GameFile website, explaining that the company believed that it was, simply put, the best thing to do to respect consumers and the games they have already purchased in this generation.\r\nAs the spokesperson explained:\r\n\r\n”Many consumers play Nintendo Switch and we decided that the best direction to follow was to ensure that those consumers would be able to play software already purchased for Nintendo Switch also on the future console.\r\nFollowing this thought, Nintendo Switch 2 can run exclusive Nintendo Switch 2 games, but also both physical and digital Nintendo Switch games. Some Switch games may not be supported or fully compatible with Switch 2, but details regarding this will be shared on the Nintendo website in the future.”\r\n\r\nRegarding this compatibility detail, which has been clarified since the video announcement, it is plausible that we are referring to games with particularly unique features (and which relied on that size of Joy-Con), such as Nintendo Labo.\r\nAwaiting confirmation from the manufacturer, however, for now it’s just about hypothesis.\r\n\r\nTo find out more we will have to wait until April 2nd, when there will be a real Nintendo Direct entirely dedicated to revealing more about the new Nintendo console.\r\nMeanwhile, after an initial surge that has brought to a record value, it seems that Nintendo’s shares are suffering a backlash following the announcement – perhaps from those who are not entirely convinced of the choice of continuity, in design and approach, with Switch.\r\nIn Everything is fine case, the teaser has already told us a lot about the future that we can expect from the Kyoto house and, while waiting to get our hands on Switch 2 (you can do it too in Milan), we await new details from Nintendo.\r\nFor any further details For further information, visit our hub dedicated to the Nintendo world.
