Since its presentation at The Game Awards, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet — the new IP from Naughty Dog and PlayStation — has become the subject of discussion in the industry, unfortunately for mostly negative reasons.\r\nThe new game from the creators of Uncharted (which you can find on Amazon) seems to have divided the public, and not only that.\r\nAfter the first trailer came an avalanche of criticism, linked primarily to the appearance of the protagonist Jordan, played by Tati Gabrielle.\r\nThe actress herself seemed not to have taken the controversy well, as I told you just a few days ago.\r\nApparently, as also reported by ComicBook, the wave of hatred towards the game does not seem to have still stopped.\r\nThe announcement trailer for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet continues to generate an impressive volume of dislikes on YouTube, at the time of writing.\r\nOn the official PlayStation channel, dislikes overwhelmingly outnumber likes : beyond 260 thousand against just over 90 thousand. \r\nThe situation does not improve on the Naughty Dog channel, where the ratio is over 170 thousand dislikes against around 70 thousand likes, with comments deactivated to avoid further controversy.\r\nTo put these numbers in perspective, the Concord trailer — another new IP from PlayStation — had received similar proportions of negative feedback. Given the updated numbers, the debut of Intergalactic has been even more turbulent.\r\nAlthough the game represents a bold step in new creative directions, the reception from the public is therefore still less than enthusiastic.\r \nDespite the difficult debut, the fate of Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet could have some surprises in store. Naughty Dog has shown in the past that it can turn initial criticism into long-term success thanks to the quality of its titles.\r\nIf the gameplay and storytelling are up to the studio’s standards, the game could win back fans.\r \nOf course, this complicated start highlights how delicate the relationship is between big studios, new IPs and an increasingly demanding audience.\r\nFor now, it remains to be seen whether Intergalactic will manage to turn the situation around or whether the title will remain a stain in the reputation of Naughty Dog and PlayStation (which I would honestly tend to exclude).
The wave of “contempt” towards Intergalactic is not over
