Bad news for fans of car games and, in particular, of the particularly long-running NASCAR saga: in the last few hours, in fact, it has been confirmed that due to a change of ownership of the licenses, the fifteen games of the franchise will be removed from all stores digital from 31 December 2024, becoming no longer available for purchase.\r\nNo problem, however, for those who have already purchased them: they will remain available without problems, but they will simply no longer be able to be purchased by new users.\r\nThe news comes from a tweet sent by Motorsport Games, which recently sold the NASCAR license to iRacing: a move that entailed the definitive farewell to all previously released games.\r\n«To the community video game from NASCAR” we read in the team’s announcement tweet. «Starting December 31, all NASCAR video games and their DLC will no longer be available for purchase on all digital stores, but will remain available to play. This includes the Heat, Arrivals and Ignition franchises.”\r\nThe tweet continues:\r\n\r\n”We recommend keeping an eye out for discounts across various platforms this December, so you can complete your NASCAR collection for as long as we can.\r\nWe want to say a big thank you to our community for the support and enthusiasm they have given to these games over the years, we hope you have enjoyed racing with us.”\r\n\r\nWith the move to iRacing, fans of the franchise will still be able to get their hands on a new episode – NASCAR ’25 – next year.\r\nThis does not change, however, that the issue reports the spotlight on the problem of the preservation of video games, since a change in licenses is enough to send many games into oblivion with a single maneuver, as in this case.
