PS5 does not convince fans: 50% remained on PS4

PS5 is undoubtedly the market leader of the current historical moment of video games, sales seem to be going very well but, despite this, the community of PlayStation players does not seem to be entirely convinced.\r\nDespite the many versions of PS5 (among (see the latest ones you can find on Amazon), it seems that the community has not yet completely made the big leap towards the new generation.\r\nAs Kotaku reports, in fact, only 50% of players on PlayStation 4 have purchased a PlayStation 5 , at the moment.\r\nPlayStation Network had 118 million active users as of March 31, 2024, according to Sony’s latest findings, but 59 million PS5s have been sold since launch to date.\r\nSo, the PS5s circulating in the world they are almost exactly half of all PlayStation users active online.\r\nAlthough PS5 is definitely the best-selling console of the generation, with a gap with Xbox that is now impressive and probably unbridgeable, this data is still significant given that PS5 is about to entering what has been defined as the last part of its life cycle.\r\nOf course, the subdued launch with the now infamous stock crisis due to the lockdown due to the Covid-19 pandemic also had an impact, but PlayStation has certainly time to turn those numbers up a bit. Suffice it to say that at the end of 2023 the overall sales data of the two platforms seemed to favor PS5 with a ratio of around 2 to 1 compared to Xbox Series for a while and the alleged technical specifications have also emerged: you can find them in our dedicated news.\r\nThere is certainly one universal fact that makes us reflect on the historical moment of the video game sector in relation to hardware: consoles are dying, watching sales plummet.
