While Microsoft has decided to launch at least 4 of its Xbox exclusives on rival consoles, company boss Phil Spencer has reflected on the recent success of Sony, which launched the cross-platform online shooter Helldivers 2 on PC and PlayStation 5.\r\nBoth both the PS5 edition (which you can find on Amazon) and the PC version, combined with a low launch price, proved to be a success.\r\nAfter all, we are talking about a game that is receiving constant updates, so its life cycle does not it will be short.\r\nNow, as also reported by Eurogamer, Spencer has decided to talk about the game and the remote possibility that it arrives on Xbox.\r\n”I have to say that when I look at a game like Helldivers 2 – and it’s a fantastic game, kudos to the team who shipped it to PC and PlayStation – I’m not sure if that helps the industry by not being on Xbox,” Spencer told Game File.\r\nDuring Xbox’s Business Update podcast last night, Spencer further highlighted how, in his opinion, platform exclusivity is an increasingly diminishing part of the video game industry.\r\nIt’s a topic that Xbox also discussed with the Federal Trade Commission last year American, when Spencer explained how the launches of big console exclusives do nothing but shake the needle on the sales trends of PlayStation and Xbox consoles in the long term.\r\n”I firmly believe that in the next five to ten “Exclusive games – games that are exclusive to one piece of hardware – will be a smaller and smaller part of the industry for years,” Spencer said last night, noting that most games will launch on a mix of consoles and PCs. as well as on mobile devices across the industry.\r\nSony already launches the majority of its first-party games on PC, although not at the same time as the PlayStation versions, leaving Nintendo as the only major exclusion.\r\nMaybe It’s no surprise, but speaking to Game File, Spencer said he doesn’t expect Microsoft’s upcoming launch of four Xbox games on PlayStation and Nintendo Switch to mean a reciprocal move.\r\n”For me it’s not about of some sort of barter system,” concluded Spencer. “We’re doing this for the good of Xbox’s business.”\r\nLast night, Microsoft also said that the next Xbox will offer the biggest technical leap it’s ever seen in a generation of hardware.
Helldivers 2 is not on Xbox and this “does not help the sector”
