95% of developers are currently working on a live service game

One of the most controversial trends in the video game market is undoubtedly that of live service games, or game as a service (Gaas, to use yet another acronym) which often rage among new releases, influencing even unthinkable development studios.\ r\nAfter the success of Fortnite, Epic Games’ battle royale which just needs a film in the cinema to become even more powerful, many studios and publishers around the world have tried to throw themselves into this trend by creating completely Gaas video games, or with some elements that are updated over time.\r\nAmong these Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League (you can find it on Amazon) just to mention the most recent case, which led a studio like Rocksteady to try its hand at this type of video game production which had never faced before.\r\nIn the case of the title about DC Comics anti-heroes there was a troubled development in which Rocksteady found itself managing game dynamics that it had never experienced, with the result that Suicide Squad is not coming out squarely under the brightest of stars.\r\nThe trend doesn’t look like it’s going to end anytime soon, despite the failure of many of these live service games, but how many development studios are working on projects like this? Very many.\r\nA survey (via Games Industry) conducted by Griffin Gaming Partners on 537 game creators from all over the world reveals this: 95% of video game producers are developing or maintaining a live service game.\r\nAmong the surveyed, 66% of them agreed that updating services are necessary for the long-term success of such a title. Which, on average, takes more than five years of development than the production of a video game \
