According to the findings on the net at this time, Facebook has entered into a multi-year license agreement with the label Universal Music Group, controlled by the French Vivendi.
The giant owned by Mark Zuckerberg will allow subscribers to upload movies with music by songs of Universal (we speak of the likes of Rihanna, Bruce Springsteen and Justin Bieber).
“Together, Facebook and UMG are creating a new dynamic model forcollaboration between the music companies and social platforms to advance the interests of recording artists and songwriters, “said Michael Nash, executive vice President of Universal Music Group’s digital strategy.
This would put in “jeopardy” YouTube, since a few days under contract with Universal and Sony Music Entertainment, although for now, Facebook seems to have no intention of launching a music streaming service.
